Our Rituals

The team has a few recurring events that helps set our working pace.

Lunch and learn

• The Lunch and Learn allows us to show the work we’ve been doing for the last month to the wider Barnardo’s team, and happens at Barkingside and online on the first Tuesday of the month at 12:30. Alex M. owns the agenda, each presentation takes 5-7mins.

Show the thing

• The all-team meeting happens every other Tuesday at 10:00 - 10:30 in the Euston office. This gives teams the opportunity to show off what they’ve been working on in a time boxed way (5 minutes per presentation with another 5 for questions).

Standups

• Management: Daily at 10:30
• Website project: Daily at 10:15
• Product team: Daily at 10:00 in the Workplace Product Team Private chat

Retrospectives

The teams are running their own retrospectives, usually at the end of each sprint (every two weeks). Check team calendars for dates.

• Product team: every other Tuesday at 10:00 - 11:00.
• Website and intranet team: every other Friday at 11:00 - 11:40

Sprint planning

• Each project will have it’s own sprint planning session which you should receive a calendar invite to.

State of the nation

For all DMs and PMs. Every Tuesday from 2pm to 2.45pm, owned by Sarah C.

Other meetings

• J. SURGERY (every Tuesday from 3pm to 4pm) - for anyone who wants to chat about anything in person with J.
• 1:1s, personal meetings between every team member and the tech lead/DM. This is 20 minutes to speak about anything on your mind. Happens every two weeks and you will receive a calendar invite.
• DM clan (every other Monday between 3pm and 4pm) - meeting which involves only DMs
• Training surgery with Sarah C. (every third Thursday of the month) 11am - 12pm (to discuss any training needs)
